Step-by-Step Walkthrough
Follow along and save the galaxy
Welcome, Captain! You're starting at the Arth starport with 12,000 Mu (credits) and a ship with basic Class 1 engines. Before you head out into the galaxy, let's get everything set up properly.
First, head to the Notices section in the starport. You'll get your mission briefing and some useful tips. Make note of any coordinates mentioned — they'll be important later.
This is crucial. Go to Personnel and create your crew with these specific races:
Critical: Never hire a Thrynn! The Elowan race will refuse to speak with you if you have one on your crew, and you NEED the Elowan's help to beat the game.
Spend some of your starting money at the Training area to boost your Science Officer's Science skill. This helps you scan planets and identify artifacts — very important!
Go to Ship Configuration and buy 6 Cargo Pods. These let you carry more minerals back to sell. Don't forget to name your ship — you can't take off without a name!
Head to the Hangar and take off. You're now ready to start making money.
Before you can explore the galaxy, you need money for upgrades. Mining is your ticket to wealth. Here's exactly what to do:
From orbit around Arth, fly to Planet 1 (the innermost planet). Land in the mountainous regions — that's where the good minerals are.
Look for: Chromium (260 Mu), Promethium (300 Mu), and Tungsten (340 Mu). Fill your cargo hold, then return to Arth and sell everything at the Trade Depot.
Planet 3 has ancient ruins with free Endurium nearby — the most valuable resource at 1000+ Mu each!
Tip: Stay at moderate altitudes (between the water and mountains). Endurium appears near ruins, and ruins are evenly spread out. Walk in one direction and you'll find more.
Watch the weather! Arth-3 has storms that can hurt your crew.
Make repeated trips to Arth-1 and Arth-3 until you can buy:
This might take 5-10 mining trips, but it's worth it. Don't rush into deep space with a weak ship!
Once you have Class 5 engines, check out system 137, 156 Planet 2 — it has 50% mineral density with Rodnium (440 Mu!), no weather, and no hostile creatures. Or try Mardan-4 at 217, 88 — 80% mineral density, the best in the game!
Now that you're properly equipped, it's time to meet the Mechans — ancient robots who hold the key to understanding this galaxy.
Set course for coordinates 145, 107 (about 20 sectors to the right of Arth on your star map). When you arrive, you'll be intercepted by the Mechans.
The Mechans will quiz you. Get it wrong and they attack! Here are the correct answers:
"Your vessel is derived from Empire technology?" → YES
"Are you Group 9?" → YES
"Heaven awaits. Are you prepared?" → YES
"Do you serve Layton?" → NO
"Shall we continue waiting for Noah?" → NO
"Maintain Code Blue?" → NO
"Verify Code Red?" → YES
"Are you an enemy of Noah?" → NO
Once friendly, ask the Mechans about everything. They'll tell you about:
Before leaving this system, orbit Planet 4 (Heaven) and use your Science Officer to recommend it for colonization. That's an easy 50,000 Mu! Heaven is also great for mining — you can earn 50,000+ Mu per trip here.
Time to follow up on the clues you've gathered and find Earth!
Travel to system 118, 146 and land on Planet 4 at coordinates 16S x 20W.
Search the ruins here to find the Dodecahedron artifact (increases alien encounters — useful for diplomacy). You can also log this planet for 40,000 Mu.
Go to system 68, 66. A Gazurtoid ship guards Planet 1 — they're fanatics who can't be reasoned with. Destroy them with lasers (they're immune to missiles).
GAME-BREAKING BUG: On this planet, do NOT pick up any minerals! They're bugged and will crash your game and corrupt your save. Only collect lifeforms and Endurium here!
Search the ruins at 12N x 32E to find the Shimmering Ball — it prevents enemies from locking missiles onto you!
The ruins also mention Pythagoras is at 216, 87. Go there and you'll find three star systems:
Welcome home! The system is lifeless (we're in the "Dead Zone"), but you can still:
To beat the game, you need help from alien races. Let's make some friends (and intimidate some enemies).
Look at your star map for the Staff constellation — three stars stacked vertically on the right side. Go to 180, 124 and search Planet 2's ruins.
Follow the trail of clues: 59N x 22E → 54N x 13E → eventually leading to system 81, 98 Planet 1 at 44S x 137W. Here you'll find the Ellipsoid — a sacred Veloxi artifact! Also log this planet for 50,000 Mu.
Travel to Veloxi space around 150, 148. When you meet them, give them the Ellipsoid. They'll instantly become friendly and share valuable intel:
Find the Elowan around 148, 63. They'll ask you questions:
"Friends of the Thrynn?" → NO
"Partaken of Headfruit?" → NO
"Affiliated with the Institute?" → YES
"Was Arth a Noah colony?" → YES
"Seen the ruins of old Earth?" → YES
They'll warn you: Arth's sun will flare in the final week of month 10! That's your deadline.
Find the Spemin around 82, 148. Unlike other races, be HOSTILE to them — they only respect force! Attack a few ships until they surrender, then they'll reveal:
You need specific artifacts to approach and destroy the Crystal Planet. Here's how to get them all:
Black Eggs are planet-destroying bombs. Locations:
Use the Spemin's flux path to reach system 55, 32. Drop a Black Egg on Planet 2. BOOM — all Uhlek in the galaxy are now harmless! This makes collecting the remaining artifacts much safer.
First, visit the Elowan homeworld Eleran at 129, 33 and check the ruins at 60S x 45E for a clue. Then travel to system 112, 200 Planet 3 at 59N x 64W to collect the Red Cylinder. This artifact shows the location of important ruins on your orbital map!
Go to Sphexi at 132, 165. Veloxi probes will ask number questions — answer YES to multiples of 6, NO to everything else. Use the Red Cylinder to find the Crystal Orb at 46N x 14E.
Warning: After taking the Orb, the Veloxi will demand it back. NEVER give it back — this makes the game unwinnable! Fight or flee from all Veloxi from now on.
You now have everything you need. Time to save the galaxy!
Visit the Institute on Akteron-6. Find Akteron by looking for four stars in a square formation in a nebula near Elowan space. One is brighter than the others — that's Akteron at 165, 84. Land on Planet 6 at 75S x 66E.
The ruins contain Commander McConnell's logs, revealing the shocking truth:
"The Ancients ARE Endurium! We've spent centuries hunting them as fuel. Their metabolism is so slow they don't even know we're sentient. The Crystal Planet is their last defense against us."
Make sure you have:
Travel to 192, 152. With the Crystal Orb in your possession, you can safely orbit the planet.
The Crystal Cone will reveal the control nexus location on your orbital map. Land there, enter the ruins, and drop the Black Egg on the nexus.
Get back to your ship and leave immediately! An ending sequence will play.
You've saved Arth and earned a 500,000 Mu bonus! The galaxy is now yours to explore at leisure.
You may encounter spiral-shaped beings called Minstrels. They're cosmic observers who poetically narrate the entire plot — essentially spoiling the whole story if you pay attention!
Colorful spheres that respond with a cryptic Morse code message: 415-348-7910. Rumored to be a developer's phone number!
If you drop a Black Egg on the Elowan homeworld, your crew says: "Captain, I felt a tremor as if millions of voices cried out and were suddenly silenced."
You might randomly encounter a ship that looks like the Enterprise from Star Trek. It attacks on sight — fight or run!
